Bohol Man-Made Forest is a mahogany plantation that started around 800 hectares of land. It was a tree planting project by a group of teachers. They came up with the idea to plant trees after the area was being burned "kaingin" as part of the old farming method.
As the tree planting project became a successful way of restoring the forest, this has been passed down to the next generation of students and has filled up more empty lands. Today, the forest spans at around 19,000 hectares and most of the trees were aged at around 50 to 60 years old.
The area is located in the border of Loboc and Bilar town in Bohol and what made this area stand out is the height uniformity of the big trees. The road up to the forest is quite steep and winding but this doesn't hinder the local drivers to maneuver the road with speed and agility. Once you're under the shadow of the trees, you will immediately fell the abrupt in temperature.
But the thrill part of this tour is the picture taking. Since the road in this area is part of the main road, there were a lot of vehicles passing by and you really need to be vigilant when taking pictures in the center of the road.
After passing this forest, it will lead you to the towns of Bilar and Batuan then arrives at Carmen town where the famous Chocolate hills were located.
