Halloween is an annual holiday celebration and a tradition since age-old European years. It originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.
Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating and carving jack-o-lanterns. Around the world, as days grow shorter and nights get colder, people continue to usher in the season with gatherings, costumes and sweet treats.
In the Philippines, Halloween is celebrated in a different way compare to Western Countries. It starts from the eve of October 31 to November 2 due to the strong catholic background of the Filipinos. Most of these times are spent remembering their dead loved ones and usually find most people in cemeteries or in memorial parks.
However, parties and mall events are still expected where you and your family can enjoy and spend more time together. And if you are hosting one, you might consider some of the ideas below:
1. Kids Party With DIY Photo Booth
Adding DIY Photo Booth to your kids costume party ensures unforgettable memories of them as they grow older.
2. Pirates Party Theme
Dreaming of being a Pirate or a big fan of the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean"?
Why not make your party look like one?
3. Haunted House Party Theme
Hosting a party at home is a great advantage to save money for the event. Making it look like Haunted is a good twist.
To throw your own Haunted House party, stuff some old clothes with hay or cotton to make some dead guests. Place some plastic or Styrofoam tombstones, cobwebs and fake spiders around the house, and ask guests to show up in their best ghostly makeup and costume.
4. Superhero Party Theme
Superheroes are some of the most popular costumes worn by trick-or-treaters at Halloween. There are so many different options available for this theme starting from cupcakes with superhero logos and guests wearing their favorite superhero cape or mask. Since most kids love superheroes, it would be a nice theme for a kids party or those who are kids at heart.
5. Harry Potter Party Theme
This can be one of the most involved and exciting parties that you can throw. Decorate your home or backyard with Harry-themed objects, like the Sorting Hat, broomsticks, golden Snitches, magic wands and a cauldron.
It doesn't matter what theme you choose, just be sure to have fun and enjoy.
